Runa Workshop is a sharp-minded, nimble and energetic design practice focused on client-centric, conceptually-driven, high quality architecture and interior design. Founded in 2009 out of a common desire to live and work creatively, our collaborative studio environment generates thoughtfully considered and typologically diverse projects ranging from mixed-use developments, workplace environments, retail, and single-family homes. Our team consists of design professionals who are client advocates, storytellers, and value creators.

Project Designer / Architect

We are seeking an experienced Project Architect to join our Austin office who has a minimum of 5 years of experience with commercial projects that align with our body of work. Qualified candidates are creative, enthusiastic, self-directed, organized, and have honed their skills to become a well-rounded design professional. Candidates should be able to manage several projects simultaneously and efficiently, demonstrate strong communication and coordination skills, and possess a thorough understanding of local codes and construction methods vital to building sustainably in Central Texas and beyond.


We are looking for candidates who align with our values and can demonstrate meeting the following responsibilities and qualifications. We will work closely with selected candidates to establish clear initial expectations to fulfill this role and set a course for professional growth during their tenure with the practice.


Responsibilities include:

Code analysis and feasibility studies

Lead the design and coordination of all phases on a variety of project types and scales

Prepare and review Contract Documents and oversee Construction Administration

Management of multiple projects at different phases of delivery

Quality Assurance / Quality Control during all phases of design and construction

Consultant coordination

Staff mentorship and technical leadership

Assist in developing our design systems including BIM asset creation, standard detailing, and templates

Actively and positively contribute to our culture


Required Qualifications include:

5+ years of experience in commercial / mixed-use or single-family projects

Thorough understanding of building systems and construction process & methods

Thorough understanding of local code, sustainability standards, and human-wellness

Extensive experience working with a multi-disciplinary consultant team

Registered Architect (strongly preferred) or pursuing licensure requirements within one calendar year

Extensive experience in all phases of the design process

Collaborative, positive attitude and strong ability for team coordination

Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication skills

Proficient in Revit / BIM design process, as well as knowledge of Enscape, Adobe CC, GSuite, & Bluebeam

High emotional intelligence and professional growth mindset


Additional Desired Qualifications include:

Workplace Interior Design and Space Planning experience

Multi-Family experienceExperience with LEED AP, WELL, or AEGB design, commissioning and certification process

Active participant in local organizations (AIA, RECA, ULI, etc.)

Established relationships at CoA planning departments

Client management experience
